Judge Murphy, best known as the lead singer for the Marin-based jam band Zero, died Sept. 15 at his home in El Dorado County after a long bout with liver cancer. He was 63. In recent years, Mr. Murphy sang with his wife, Lauren, in Lansdale Station, a group named after a former railroad stop in San Anselmo. He continued to perform during his illness, and last appeared with Lansdale Station at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley on Sept. 6, a little more than a week before he died.
