'Bringing the Sounds of the San Francisco Bay to the Mobile Bay"
www.LaurenMurphyMusic.com

Veteran San Francisco Songstress heads up one of the hottest new acts on the Gulf Coast. "The Psychedelics" deliver the famous jazz-rock-electric sound with a solid lineup featuring John Cochran on guitar & vocals, John Keuler on bass & vocals, and John Milham on drums. Relix Magazine had dubbed Murphy, "Lady Willpower", and Haight Street Music News lauds 'talent like this many never pass this way again.' Having worked w/ Bob Weir, Steve Kimock, Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Jerry Garcia Band, Wavy Gravy, members of the Jefferson Airplane, and many more rock royalty, Murphy is now the 'keeper of the flame' of a genre that began in the mid-1960's, pushing the limits of form and improvisation , while remaining true to the message of song and sound. Both John Cochran & John Milham have a strong jazz soul & funk foundations (The Bodhi Trio) while John Keuler is well rounded in Americana and R&B, giving a solid foundation for the group to take a musical trip. As the said back in the day, "Buy the ticket, Take the Ride!" This is one fundamental pleasure
group you don't want to miss

Songwriters in the Road- Lauren Murphy, Holly Anton, & Deborah Grabien - 6pm
84 Main Street
Tiburon, Ca 94920
(415) 435-3499
Price: $20

Three women singer-songwriters come together for a round-robin acoustic event of original music, as a way of starting 2017 off on a hopeful note. And there will be some special guests!

Lauren Murphy needs to no introduction. From Landsdale Station to adding her voice to her late husband Judge Murphy's vocals with legendary jam band Zero to her own blossoming solo career, Lauren is one of our premiere woman songwriters. Holly Anton brings her considerable talent with lyric and beautifully structured musical timing to the circle. Deborah Grabien is the songwriter, guitarist and frontwoman for The Sound Field, who are presently finishing up their first LP, "The Bucket List", with guest players including Mark Karan, Jason Crosby, Pete Sears, Mookie Siegel, Benmont Tench and David Lindley.

Joining those Nasty Women will be some bad hombres on rhythm: Sound Field bassist Nic Grabien will be sitting on on acoustic bass, while Greg Anton, one of the founders of Zero, will bring his extraordinaryn talent to the party on drums. Sound Field drummer Larry Luthi will kick in his talents as well.

The venue can seat approximately 30 people. There will be a cover charge of $20 per person, starting at 6 PM on New Years Day. There will be very dark chocolate fudge to enjoy for everyone who buys some of proprietor Jerry Horn's excellet wine (I highly recommend his selection of champagne).

So come out and listen, and sip, and relax to begin a brand new year. See you there!

"An intimate evening with Molly Thomas & Lauren Murphy"
Saturday Nov. 5th , 2016
8pm-11pm
Tickets $15

By Don Aters, Legendary Rock Photographer & Historian:

“Songbirds of Alabama, both Lauren Murphy & Molly Thomas are evocative, seductive and of course, unlike most of today’s genre, elegant. Their redolence of where they have been, Nashville and San Francisco are clues as they are the musical genius’s. The nascent sounds seem to echo from the surrounding venues of the era and songs that define the masses; the optimism of love and survival that transcend from year to year. Both have acquired instrumental ability, verifying the distaff of women that matter. In tandem, their musical truism lauds to the storied women songwriters of "The Golden Age of Rock and Roll".

Molly Thomas
http://mollythomas.com/

Molly Thomas began playing violin as a child in Mississippi, and it has taken her around the world. Having shared the stage with names like Todd Snider, Will Hoge, Matthew Ryan, Mando Saenz, Amelia White, Will
Kimbrough, Tommy Womack and K.S. Rhodes, her geunine sound is one that resonates with everyone. She is unfiltered ‘south. Molly’s music is a reflection of the ingredients of the human spirit and her recent album, "Make Everything Bright", provides a perfect snapshot in which to relate. Julie Hight of 'The Nashville Scene Critics Picks' writes; "She’s a roots-pop singer-songwriter with a strong point-of-view and a way of expressing it that leaves the sharp edges on, often to exhilarating result. There are moments on her new album , which she co-produced with Robert Plant drummer Marco Giovino, when she comes off like a southern Sam Phillips."

Lauren Murphy
http://www.LaurenMurphyMusic.com

Baton Rouge born Lauren Murphy, is best known for her near two decade career with the San Francisco based touring band ZERO(produced by Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter), and as band leader of Lansdale
Station(2005-2013), the award winning act she established with her late husband, legendary vocalist, The Judge. Having cut her teeth on the psychedelic sounds of California, Lauren has played with members of The Jerry Garcia Band, Steve Kimock, The Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Santana, the Doobie Brothers and more. Murphy's
songwriting, delivery , and dynamic vocals, draw in the audience and hold up to the critics. No Depression Magazine says of her recent release " El Dorado", "Simply Brilliant; A record everyone should have in their collection." Relix Magazine has dubbed her "Lady Willpower". Having recently relocated from the West Coast to Fairhope, Ala , Murphy has already recorded and shared stages with Anthony Crawford, Will Kimbrough, Corky Hughes, and Grayson Capps. In 2014 she was a featured Lecturer on the "Art of Southern Songwriting" at Millsaps College in Jackson, Ms.

A Summer Trip w/ The Lauren Murphy Band & Shakey Zimmerman - 7pm doors / 8pm showtime
19 Corte Madera Ave
Mill Valley, Ca 94941
415-388-1100
Price: $18-$30 packages available

This very special show highlights the return of one of the Bay Area's most beloved singer/songwriters & energetic performers, Baton Rouge born Lauren Murphy. Lauren is best known for her background vocals with the San Francisco based band ZERO(Steve Kimock, Robert Hunter, Judge Murphy), and as band leader/main composer of Lansdale Station(2005-2013), the award winning act she established with her late husband, legendary vocalist, The Judge.

Tonight she will be backed by some of the finest players on the Barbary Coast. Last year Murphy relocated to the artistic hamlet of Lower Alabama after releasing her latest record, "El Dorado", dedicated in loving memory to her late husband & singing partner, The Judge.

Her band tonight boasts the talents of Vince Littleton on drums (Merl Saundes/Super Diamond), Mike Sugar on Bass (Jambay), young guitar wizard James Harman, and Mountain Fiddler, Lisa Bond. Lauren is widely known for her soulful vocals, ranging from the purest tones to down right powerhouse grit, as well as her award winning compositions. Tonight's 'Mid Summer Trip' will take the audience on a journey from the Sierra Nevada hill country to the Psychedelic shores of the Pacific, touching on the rich legacy of Zero, Lansdale Station, as well as her new compositions that dip into the Swampy regions of the Gulf States. A charismatic performer who relates intimately with her audience, Murphy's finely honed chops are enough to seduce even the toughest critics. Her repertoire boasts a little something for everyone. In 2010, Glide Magazine listed her version of Allen Toussaint's "On The Way Down" with Steve Kimock, Bobby Vega, The Judge, and ZERO, as one of the Top 5 all time covers, along side Government Mule, Widspread Panic, and Phish. Murphy has also worked closely w/ Wavy Gravy & SEVA Foundation over the years.

No Depression Magazine said of her newest release , "Simply Brilliant; A record everyone should have in their collection. Every song hits in places that everyone who ever draws breath is likely to feel: a sudden flush of the cheeks, a tightening of the muscles that control laughter or tears, or maybe in the pit of the stomach. Emotional Honesty, The Real Deal, these songs of strength are delivered by Lauren's signature smoky vocals, and just enough less detachment to make damned sure that when the lyrics make
her bleed, you're going to bleed too." Paul Liberator of the Marin IJ second's that emotion stating, "It would make Judge proud".

As a live performer she's been described as brassy bawdy and graceful.
Lauren has played many of the largest concert halls and festivals on the West Coast, as well as recently being a guest Lecturer on The Craft of Southern Songwriting at "Millsaps College's Art & Lecture Series". Her songs can be heard on mainstream radio stations from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

Compared to Patty Griffin, EmmyLou Harris, & Grace Slick, with the passionof Janis Joplin, Murphy is completely unique in her vocal stylings. Sensitive and powerful, she captivates her audience with finely crafted tales that will free you mind and make you dance.

Buy the Ticket, and Take this Mid Summer Trip.

*An Advance Only "Vinyl Ticket Package" is available that includes a copy
of "El Dorado" on Vinyl; a 180 gram Hi-Fidelity experience.

The $30 includes the cost of entrance to the show and a copy of the Album, masterfully recorded mixed & mastered by Grammy Winning Producer Mooka Rennick on Pete Townsend's old Neve board using 2 inch analog tape at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, Ca.

Shakey Zimmerman brings an authentic true-to-form sound for its Sweetwater debut. This acoustic/electric band is led by Bay Area musician, Pat Nevins on guitar, vocals, and harmonica. His new ensemble of veteran players powerfully delivers iconic songs of legends, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Nevins has an uncanny ability to channel both Dylan and Young’s trademark voices while giving them his own stamp. Shakey Zimmerman shows are packed with famous tunes, full of grit and attitude, that entertain audiences of all ages. Shakey Zimmerman is locked and loaded with a dizzying catalog that span the decades, and Nevins embraces both the softer, sensitive side of Dylan and Young, as well as the power-packed electric driven rock and roll side. The group is rounded out by the fingerpicking and fierce attack of guitar slinger, Jody Salino, a protégé of Jorma Kaukonen. The combination of Salino & Nevins is sheer magic. Pat Nevins played for six years as a member of Ghosts of Electricity, solidifying his knack for delivering intense Bob Dylan style vocals. He has shared the stage and opened for many famous names, including our own Bob Weir, David Nelson, The Radiators, Commander Cody, Merle Saunders, Koko Taylor, and Lonnie Brooks. He is known as the founding member of Workingman’s Ed, popular with Northern California deadheads. Salino's guitar techniques are a perfect compliment to Nevins, as he pulls from the well of Dave Van Ronk, Stefan Grossman, John Renbourn, and Ian Buchannan, all students of Reverend Gary Davis. Jody developed his guitar prowess as both an acoustic and electric force in his band The Bluescasters. Also a highly-skilled recording engineer, Salino has worked alongside Bill Kirchen, Phil Lesh, Jimmy Herring, Rasheid Ali, Jaco Pastorius, and Ernest “Boom” Carter. Songwriters in the Round ~ Grayson Capps,Corky Hughes, Lauren Murphy, Ryan Balthroup, Jon Cook, & Mac Walter - 1pm doors/ 2 pm show
Silverhill, Alabama
Price: $25

The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm in Silverhill, Alabama  is a private outdoor house concert in a private home. We are a Pro Member of The Folk Alliance International and many of the country’s best singer songwriters and musicians have graced our humble little “front porch”.

The venue is as distinctive as the performers. The Frog Pond itself, is an outdoor stage under a 200 year old Cedar tree on Blue Moon Farm, a property owned by Cathe Steele, who formerly managed the entertainment at Pirates Cove in Josephine, Alabama. Steele, and her songwriter friend Grayson Capps, took inspiration for the Frog Pond house concerts series from the famed “Midnight Rambles” conducted by drummer Levon Helm. As she describes it, the core idea is to bring musicians and serious listeners together in an informal but respectful house concert setting on the farm where the focus is firmly on the music and the community built through artists and listeners. It’s a magical place where music is brought back to it’s roots  in a true listening venue where songwriters and musicians alike come together to “wood shed” and network. The Frog Pond offers each artist the opportunity to play with others that they would not normally have the opportunity to perform with while sharing fan bases & introducing their music to new ears in an incredible listening audience  within an intimate venue of  true music lovers. We are a not for profit house concert with original music by the performers. All proceeds go to our songwriters.

Folk AllianceAt Blue Moon Farm, patrons bring their own chairs and beverages and are encouraged to participate in a communal covered-dish dinner. Overnight camping is allowed for out of towners. The house concerts are intimate, unique, and you must be on the guest list to attend as it is not open to the public. Please feel free to contact us for details and an invite to experience the musical magic and community of The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm.

The pairing of these two veteran musicians, is set up to be one of the best new acts in Alabama.

Kick off the First week of school by Relaxing at the Windmill , Friday the 21st.

All Ages

Nation Wide No Depression Magazine says of Lauren, " "Every song on "El Dorado" hits in places that everyone who ever draws breath is likely to feel: a sudden flush of the cheeks, a tightening of the muscles that control laughter or tears, or maybe in the pit of the stomach. Emotional Honesty, The Real Deal, these songs of strength are delivered by Lauren's signature smoky vocals, and just enough
less detachment to make damned sure that when the lyrics make her bleed, you're going to bleed too. Never overproduced, it's a perfect balance: no excess fat, but all the meat still on the bone. Choice players that came together for a fantastic result. A record everyone should own in their collection"

A benefit for Andy Cannon w/ Grayson Capps, Cathe Steel, Luther Wamble , Lauren Murphy + - Noon-9pm
6664 County Rd. 95
Josephine, AL 36530
(251)987-1224

Benefit for Big Andy Cannon
Sat. Aug 1st. Noon until 9pm
Pirates Cove, Josephine, Alabama
The first time I ever saw Big Andy Cannon he was sitting back in a corner of the old bar at the Flora-Bama. I could barely make him out in the dark, just a silhouette of a big man in a cowboy hat and headphones hunkered down over a sound board with his face lit by a small light that shined onto where magic was being made. I’d walked into the Flora-Bama by chance..I’d come back to Alabama after some years in the the West and had not seen the Gulf of Mexico stars in a long time. While looking for a stretch of beach to sit on, I saw sign as I crossed the line..”Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival”. It was 11pm on a Thursday night and I made a u turn in the road to go back and see what it was all about.
Little did I know where all that would take me, and little did I know that the man in the black hat making everyone sound so good, would become a life long friend that I would end up hiring as my sound man for years to come at Pirates Cove and after that, The Frog Pond..
Andy has always been there for everyone.. His family and his family of friends. No matter what I’ve ever asked of Andy, he’s come through. I’ve seen him work sick because he knew I depended on him. I’ve seen him take the time to help others even at his own expense.. Tragedy has been a staple in Andy’s life, but with anything that he had to ‘wade through’, he would just “soldier on” till he got to the other side.
Big Andy has had more than his share of heath issues in the past few years, and now it seems his lovely wife Ronda is having a share of her own. He needs a little help and his musical family of friends have decided to do just that..
On Sat. Aug 1st starting at High Noon till 9pm, at Pirates Cove we’re having a musical blowout of love for our friend Big Andy Cannon. There will be a $10 donation at the door if you feel inclined, and or a donation ‘tip jar” at the stage if you’d like to donate anonymously …
Big Andy.. We love you and all you do..
Any musicians that would like to sit in and show some love, let me know and we’ll find a spot for you.
This is gonna be one heck of a fabulous line up of love for Big A!! - Cathe Steele

Lauren w/ Southern Super Group WILLIE SUGARCAPPS! - 3pm
Silver Hill, Alabama 96553
Price: house party- inquire at the link via email to get on the list

Fronted by Lauren's friend of over 20 years, Grayson Capps, and Nashville Multi-Instrumentalist to the stars, Will Kimbrough, this show will surely be decadent! Will is also a featured player on Lauren's new CD. Congrats to Willie SugarCapps on their recent Grammy Nomination & Award for best Americana Album of the year (2013) !

Way down in lower Alabama, almost every weekend for the past two years, folks have been coming together for a music gathering called The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm. One part house concert, one part Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, the affair has hosted some of the country’s finest songwriters, pickers, bluesman and troubadours ranging from Mary Gauthier to Alvin Youngblood Hart, Malcolm Holcombe to Randall Bramblett, Sergio Webb to George Porter, Jr. It was here that frequent encounters between reoccurring artists—Grayson Capps, Will Kimbrough, Corky Hughes and the duo Sugarcane Jane featuring Savana Lee and Anthony Crawford—led to the birth of a band, the aptly named Willie Sugarcapps.

At first it was simply songwriter-in-the-round and jam session-styled collaborations, but it quickly grew to become something more. There was chemistry between the five distinct musicians that inspired a repertoire of songs demanding to be documented. They recruited Capps’ longtime partner and Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Trina Shoemaker to record them, which resulted in the self-titled, debut album, Willie Sugarcapps. The collection presents ten impeccably crafted songs imbued by relaxed performances, angelic harmonies and country Zen sentiment. Band members often take turns singing lead as they switch up between fiddle, banjo, mandolin, lap steel, bass and even ukulele.

“Willie Sugarcapps is a homecoming for all of us,” explains Will Kimbrough. “It’s coming full circle back to the beginning of why we do this in the first place and the joy of what happens when you play and sing with people who are alike in spirit and mind.”

Their collective musical experiences mingle together to create a new kind of organic and artisanal music. It’s laid back, it rocks, it comes from classic country, from the blues, from New Orleans and from the best kind of rock ‘n’ roll. It tells a story through five individual voices full of character and experience with humanity, energy and soul. It’s comforting to know that music in the hands of these five artists still happens for no other reason than purely the sake of the music itself.

401 Broad Street
Nevada City, Ca 95959
(530) 265-6161
Price: $20

An evening of all women performers:

Lauren Murphy ~
Lauren is originally from Louisiana, and for a number of years in Marin. She recently moved to Camino, California and finally will be performing in Nevada City! She calls herself composer, lyricist, vocalist, guitarist, pianist, actress, model, dancer poet, writer, mother, friendly wacko and heavy equipment operator. Wow! Her and her beloved husband Judge Murphy fronted the band Lansdale Station for many years. She has the voice of an angel that will bring you to tears and inspire you to get out there and live your life to its fullest in a kick butt way! I’m honored to say, she will be headlining this amazing evening of talented women

The Rosebuds ~ April Miranda & Susan Schreiber
Once members of the Rosebud Ramblers, April and Susan got together and began playing music and found that their love for singing could create sweet harmonies.

Mud 'n Pearls ~
A collective of artists, craftspeople, teachers, farmers and builders who love to share their homesteading, natural building and mechanical skills. The hub of inspiration and dynamic change within the self-reliance and natural building movement. Mud ‘n Pearls inspires and motivates people of all ages and gender (including women) to create beautiful sustainable, hand made projects. To see what they’re up to: www.mudandpearls.com

The Anderson Girls ~ Paige, Aimee, Daisy & Cristy
Paige, Aimee, Daisy, brother Ethan, dad Mark and mom Cristy have been performing for many years at festivals and celebrations together as The Anderson Family Bluegrass. Recently Paige, Aimee, Ethan and Daisy have been performing as the Fearless Kin. This will be their debut performance as just the girls!

Beverly Korenwaser ~ Poetess, painter, art curator and promoter

Myra Traugot ~ Singer
Sweet Myra has sang her heart out for us for many years. It will be a delight to have her grace our evening!

Bluebird & Fiona ~ Lead lady of Lasher Keen, multi-instrumentalist with the flare of the gypsy goddess Herself will be performing with her daughter Fiona. This will be their first performance as a duo!

Aubrey Lee Putz ~ Dancer
Dance Instructor/Choreographer at the Nevada City School of the Arts and Bitney College Prep High School ~ Aubrey always brings tears to my eyes as I watch her graceful yet powerful expression on stage.

Cherisha Heart & Maren Metke ~
Cherisha’s been playing music with her two brothers since she most probably can remember. She’s lead lady in Zephyr Love and frickin’ rocks it! I think her favorite guitar is her electric blue Les Paul … Maren’s lead singer of the Blackbird Quartet, a smoky bluesy, jazzy trio and recently collaborating with Cherisha. The harmonies are sweet sweet sweet!

Laughter Medicine ~ Many know Laughter as always smiling, singing, playing her flute or clarinet … and a lot of the times on her bicycle! She’s a wonderful weaver of baskets from natural fibers such as cattail and willow and will be demonstrating, let’s see how can we do this Laughter? You’ll be riding your bicycle, playing your clarinet, singing reciting, poetry …. hmmmm, it’ll be quite the experience!

Haute Trash ~
The idea for trash fashions was said to have come to found Susan Lamela while she was repairing a designer suit. Discouraged with the shoddy workmanship of the expensive garment, she claimed “I could do better than that!” Thus was born the first trash fashion show in 1983 entitled “The Cutting Edge of Fashion.” In 1986, Haute Trash made is exclusive showing at the Old Nevada Theatre. Haute Trash has performed hundreds of shows, most for non-profits and to benefit local causes and awareness. Rethink, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! They were the first to coin that phrase … at least in our neck of the woods! What can I say about Haute Trash! Let’s just say they can be wayyyyyyyy trashy! And will be for the evening of burlesque, tongue and cheek!

The Heifer Belles ~
Singer/Songwriter, Juliet Gobert fronts the all girl band made up of Kim Rogers on pedal steel, Karel Hendee on standup bass and Karen Carchidi on fiddle. It will be a fun evening with their sweet harmonies and toe tappin’ tunes!

Lizzy Hart ~ Poetess

Kaleena Devi ~
Dancer of the Sacred Temple, Belly Dancer, Kaleena is also a yoga, core fitness and belly dance teacher at the Core Movement Center in Nevada City.

Meri St. Mary ~
Whether as a musician, broadcaster on KVMR, or Poetess, Meri will rock you to your very soul and leave you laughing at yourself and life. I’m thrilled to have her join us once again at Femme de la Crème! (p.s. she can get a little raunchy)

Lauren Murphy opens for Grammy Nominated Lisa Loeb - Doors 7pm, Showtime 8pm
19 Corte Madera Ave
Mill Valley, Ca 94941
415-388-1100
Price: $27-$32

Lauren Murphy is currently in the Mixing Process of her new Cd , "El Dorado", with Grammy Award Winning Producer Mooka Rennick at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati. The recording features Will Kimbrough, Mark Karan, Johnny Mojo, Dave Zirbel, Paul Olguin, Ryan Scott, and Vince Littleton. Tonight she will sing selections from this highly anticipated release.

Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb started her career with the platinum-selling Number 1 hit song "Stay (I Missed You)" from the film Reality Bites. To this day, she is still the only artist to have a Number 1 single while not signed to a recording contract, a remarkable and unparalleled feat for an unsigned artist, though perhaps not a surprising one for the Brown grad girl with the cat-eye glasses, who at the time was already making her mark in New York's burgeoning singer-songwriter scene.

The story of Loeb's early success is well known. A native of Dallas, Texas, Loeb earned her degree in comparative literature from Brown University, where she experienced her first taste of real musical success with the duo, Liz and Lisa. The pair built a substantial following on campus and often booked shows in New York on the weekends. Fellow singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik also played in the band during Lisa's final year of college. When Loeb moved to NYC after graduation, she continued to develop her vision, this time as a solo artist, and hone her artistic talents while carefully managing the business side of her career. This led to Reality Bites and "Stay" in 1994, and the rest, as we say, is history.

Special Brunch served on the Patio

The Cafe at Sweetwater is a small space with a big job: it is the entrance to the Sweetwater Music Hall, the first introduction, as well as an oasis of calm (relatively speaking), offering a break from the excitement of the energy therein.

Charmingly rustic, yet beautifully finished, it hints nicely at what is to come in the Hall itself. The mission of the Cafe is to serve beautifully made food and drink in a relaxed and convivial environment, with professionalism, warmth and cheer. Our servers rock just as much as our bands, so feel free to spend your entire day hanging out in our charming little Cafe.

The food is driven by the farmer’s market, with emphasis on all aspects of the F.L.O.S.S. philosophy: Fresh, Local, Organic, Seasonal and Sustainable. Sounds trite, but most certainly is not — it’s darn delicious! Beverages cover all the bases, with familiar names as well as some unexpected gems. From Stumptown Coffee to Weinhard’s Root Beer to our own house made Strawberry Lemonade, we value the beverages served in our Cafe as much as we do the food!

A Southern Songwriters Series - TBD
Price: TBA
The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm in Silverhill, Alabama is a private outdoor house concert in a private home. We are a Pro Member of The Folk Alliance and many of the country’s best singer songwriters and musicians have graced our humble little “front porch”. At Blue Moon Farm, patrons bring their own chairs and beverages and are encouraged to participate in a communal covered-dish dinner. Overnight camping is allowed for out of towners. The house concerts are intimate, unique, and you must be on the guest list to attend as it is not open to the public. Please feel free to contact us for details and an invite to experience the musical magic and community of The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm.

Buzzwerks Presents: Three Divas Lauren Murphy & Joanne Rand with Andi White - 8:00pm
224 Vintage Way
Novato, Ca 94945
415.892.6200
Price: $10/$12
Friday Dec. 20th, 8:00PM Hopmonk NOVATO presents Psychedelic-Folk-Revival singer-songwriter Joanne Rand and folk-rocker Lauren Murphy (Zero, Landsdale Station) on Thursday, December 20, 8:00 PM. Tickets are $10 advance and $12 at the door, available at Hopmonk (230 Petaluma Ave., Sebastopol, CA). Opening the show will be local chanteuse, Andi White. Both Rand and Murphy will have their bands in tow. You may have heard the acclaimed and vivacious Lauren Murphy in bands “Zero” or “Landsdale Station” alongside late husband Judge Murphy, or most recently at the Mystic Theatre alongside Steve Kimock. Her music combines high-energy stage interaction with finely crafted songs from the heart. Blending country blues with Bay Area psychedelia, this award winning group reminds us of what made the San Francisco Sound so special to begin with. "The likes of this talent may never pass this way again."(Don Aters). “sweeps you up with a readiness and confidence that takes your feet out from underneath you…a fundamental pleasure” (Dennis Cook/ Jambase Chief Editor). “Through her songs, [Joanne] Rand traverses love, politics, conservation, spirituality and life with a seasoned-to-perfection voice, that, according to Terry Tempest Williams, ‘Opens the doors of creation’.” (Santa Cruz Weekly). Touring nationally for 25 years, appearing with Bonnie Raitt, Bob Weir, John Hartford, etc., Rand recently released her thirteenth CD, “Stories from the Inside Out,” recorded in Nashville. Writing and playing music since childhood in the Deep South, Rand cut her performance teeth playing bluegrass in Alaska. A North Bay Bohemian readers’ poll voted her “Best Acoustic Band,” and calls Rand a “legendary…longtime local hero.” “Nothing short of brilliant.” (Santa Rosa Press Democrat). Having played guitar, piano and mandolin for over 30 years, Andi White has evolved through stages of music ranging from bluegrass to jazz guitar. She now brings her experience and musical diversity to her original music, backed by some of the Bay Area's top musicians, forming Six Hits Later. From instrumental songs that combine complex jazz composition with funky upbeat rhythms to vocal pieces described as reminiscent of 30's era music, Andi’s original music fuses unique fingerpicking stylings and intricate composition with husky, jazz and blues-influenced female vocals.

Grayson Capps & Lansdale Station - 8:00pm
19 Corte Madera Ave
Mill Valley, Ca 94941
415-388-1100
Price: $17 Advance/$19 day of show
A NIGHT OF MUSIC NOT TO BE MISSED! LANSDALE STATION RETURNS TO THE STAGE AFTER A 1&1/2 YEAR ABSENCE . STAR OF STAGE & SCRENE , GRAYSON CAPPS, OPENS THE SHOW! "Take the poetry of Texas troubadour Townes Van Zandt, combine with Steve Earle's edgy attitude and stir with a little cup of the bayou-blues (think Howlin' Wolf) and you start to get a taste of Capps' scrumptious gothic gumbo." - AMERICAN SONGWRITER Hailing from South Alabama & spending over a decade in New Orleans, revered singer-songwriter Grayson Capps has found listeners the world over enthralled by his stinging tales of the Southern Gothic. His credits include the musical score & a cameo in the Golden Globe-nominated film, "A Love song for Bobby Long" (Scarlet Johansen/John Travolta), HBO's 'Treme', the film "Strawdogs" (Kate Bosworth), 3 tours to Europe, return Bonnaroo & Jazz Fest luminary, and more. He has been continually praised by the likes of Glide Magazine, No Depression, Jambase, Dirty Impound, & Gibson Guitars, to name a few. In his own words, he explains: "I write songs which have the voice of dead prophets masquerading as town drunks screaming 'look at us we're pretty, too!'" Over the course of four critically acclaimed studio albums and a budding film career, one will find a stunning depth to his discography, authenticating Grayson Capps as a rare American gem, equal parts country singer, bluesman, rock star, philosopher and poet. In his own right he is a formidable guitar & slide player with an explosive stage personality reminiscent of Billy Joe Shaver. As Jambase recently declared, "New Orleans' marvel Grayson Capps is alive and well and slowly building one of the most phenomenal songbooks in America today. If ever there were a cat primed to pick up where Lowell George and John Prine have left off, it's Capps." Grayson Capps is currently touring the world in support of his new album, The Lost Cause Minstrels, on the Brooklyn record label Royal Potato Family, and has just finished recording a Cd with the new Alabama super-group "Wille Sugarcapps", featuring veteran players Will Kimbrough(Emmylou Harris,Rodney Crowell,Steve Earle), Corky Hughes (Bo Didley), and Anthony Crawford (Dwight Yokum/ Steve Winwood, Pegi Young). LANSDALE STATION: Marking a 1 & 1/2 year absence, Lansdale Station, beloved powerhouse Marin band, returns to the stage with their debut at the new Sweetwater Music Hall. Spotlighting the talents of Bay Area heavyweights, Judge Murphy on vocals(ZERO/Kimock), renowned songwriter Lauren Murphy on vocals & guitar(Zero/Kimock), Dave Zirbel on lead guitar, pedal steel, & lap steel(Tiny Television/Commander Cody), Jim Preston on drums (Sons of Champlin), and Paul Olgin on bass (Maria Muldar/Shana Morrison), Lansdale Station has great reason to be thankful to be taking the stage together again. Lansdale Station combines high energy stage interaction with finely crafted songs from the heart. Blending country blues with Bay Area psychedelic, this award winning group reminds us of what made the San Francisco Sound so special to begin with. Voted #7 in Jambase's Top 10 Albums, numerous accolades, and a NME video award, the band continues to be lauded by Nationwide and Bay Area top critics and DJ's. The group's dead solid songwriting and crisp musicianship is highlighted by the character filled voices and red hot guitar licks.

Napa, Ca 94559

Price: $35
*Get There Early for LANSDALE STATION AT 8:OOPM SHARP For The Outlaws, it was always about the music. For 40 years, the Southern Rock legends celebrated triumphs, endured tragedies and survived legal nightmares to remain one of the most influential and best-loved bands of the genre. Now The Outlaws return with new music, new focus and an uncompromising new mission: It’s about a band of brothers bound together by history, harmony and the road. It’s about a group that respects its own legacy while refusing to be defined by its past. But most of all, it’s about pride. It’s About Pride is the new album from The Outlaws. Formed in Tampa in 1972, The Outlaws – known for their triple-guitar rock attack and three-part country harmonies – became one of the first acts signed by Clive Davis (at the urging of Ronnie Van Zant) to his then-fledgling Arista Records. The band’s first three albums The Outlaws, Lady In Waiting and Hurry Sundown – featuring such rock radio favorites as “There Goes Another Love Song”, “Green Grass & High Tides”, “Knoxville Girl” and “Freeborn Man” – would become worldwide gold and platinum landmarks of the Southern Rock era

ARTISTA PARTY! - 11:00am-11:00pm (L.S. slot time approx 3:30-5:00pm)
Sonoma Sanctuary
Sonoma, Ca
Price: $10 for Artista Members $15 gene
This will be held at the beautiful Sonoma Sanctuary http://www.sonomasanctuary.com/ All Ages Lansdale Station, Jerry Miller, Luv Planet, Le Marque Jean Blues Band from France and so much more! No Drunks, No Druggies, No Dogs Photobucket ARTISTA really began in 1978 at the Peanut Gallery in San Raphael, California... the studio to resident artists Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Victor Moscoso, Pat Ryan, Dave Sheridan, Tim Harris, Larry Noggle, Linda Miller and Enid Hansen. In october of '78 they had a joint show at the gallery entitled "The Concrete Foundation of Fine Arts Show" which was a rousing success. The following January they did another show at the Zamora Gallery in San Francisco, which Pat Ryan and Dave Sheridan did the invitation for, it had a dragon on it squeezed from a paint tube, holding a lightning bolt... This was the birth of ARTISTA. Unfortunately the building that housed the studios at the corner of 2nd and B Streets was sold and all the artists had to vacate the premises, so they all got together for one last show. In July they held the first ever C.F.F.A. T-Shirt Show. Since almost all of the artists involved were designing t-shirts at the time (Mouse & Kelley had their own T-Shirt business - Monster Company of America) the show was a huge success. Once again Pat & Dave designed the postcard invitation art which would eventually be turned into a T-Shirt. This time they were joined in collaboration on the art with Alton Kelley and Larry Noggle to create a most unusual design with the baby ARTISTA dragon wrapped peacefully around a concrete foundation, with a levitating Buddha/King Tut rolling a joint with San Raphael in the background and all the artists reflected in his sunglasses. The eighties began with a gang! Pat and Dave moved their studio to Fairfax, and in no time Alton kelley joined them to create a fabulous full color rendition of the ARTISTA Rainbow Dragon. They had black satin jackets with this image embroidered full size on the back, and when people saw the jackets, they all wanted their own... thus began the ARTISTA Gang! Eventually ARTISTA numbered over 700 members and the parties they threw became a mythical legend in the musical circles of marin that lasted throughout the eighties. Sadly we lost Dave to cancer in 1982. pat and Kelley carried on in Sheridan's ansence, surrounded by family, friends and a colony of artists and their families that ARTISTA had evolved into. Besides hosting the Harvest Moon Ball parties throughout the eighties, pat was coach of the ARTISTA Co-Ed Softball Team, which won several championships in the legendary San Geronimo Valley co-ed softball league. Some of the musical talents that appeared at ARTISTA parties included their house bands, The Dinosaurs and Smoke, Inc., The Mix... also The Tubes, Roy Rogers with Norton Buffalo, The Freaky Executives, Ron Thompson and The Resistors, Tommy Tutone, Terry Haggerty and The Sons of Champlin, even Huey Lewis and The News. The cool thing about the ARTISTA parties was that they held the parties at different venues every time... Which included almost every available place in Marin County. That's because that rowdy partying crowd was never welcomed back to THAT place again... after all, ARTISTA's only rule was... "NO RULES!"

153 Throckmorton
Mill Valley, Ca
415-388-2820

'Sax Legend Martin' Fierro' is noted for his mind blowing improvisational style, pulling from jazz influences like Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Coming to San Francisco in 1967, Martin played for "Mother Earth" , featuring Tracy Nelson on vocals, the "Sir Douglas Quintet", and "Legion of Mary" with Merle Saunders, John Kahn, and Jerry Garcia. Fierro joined the Bay Area based 'Zero' as a full fledged member with John Cipollina in 1986. Fierro was also featured on the Grateful Dead album, 'Wake of the Flood' as well as albums by 'Quicksilver Messenger Service'. This eclectic player has a long standing musical association with Judge Murphy, Zero vocalist, and co-leader of Lansdale Station. "Multi instrumentalist 'Banana' of 'The Youngbloods' " Banana is widely known for his guitar and piano work with 'The Youngbloods', featuring Jesse Colin Young, on one of the most famous songs of all time ; 'Get Together'. This association scored the multi-instrumentalist numerous hits including the top selling LP 'Elephant Mountain', which put 'The Youngbloods' on the musical map to success. During the 1970's, he lent his chops backing Mimi Farina , and was a member of 'Zero' from 1987-1991. Owner and master of 'Vintage Instruments', Banana's banjo, mandolin, and guitar work recently landed him a European tour with David Nelson (The New Riders of the Purple Sage / Jerry Garcia Band) with their project, 'The Paper Mill Creek Rounders'.
